How to set your goals.

Setting targets:

Goals give direction and purpose to everything that you do. Most at times we set them so as to improve. Without them you aimlessly jump from task to task And this leads to you being or feeling overwhelmed, dissatisfied, and ultimately, to a lack of success. The ability to formulate, set and make progress toward a goal is a skill that will help you achieve what you desire. This is so whether you want to succeed in a corporate space, To run a marathon, or to aim at being a better person. By setting and meeting realistic goals you become a happy successful person.

Things to ensure for a prosperous goal setting.

1. Believe in the process If you don’t have absolute belief that you can achieve what you want, then you might as well not set a goal. Something that helps is to realise that everything around you was not there until someone decided and started a journey now it is there.

2. Evaluate and reflect Know where you are right now before you set for the future. This ensures you look at your current achievements and the pursuit of what you want to accomplish objectively.

3. Stay true to yourself

The goals should not be things that you imagine someone might want you to do but what you want to do. This ensures your dedication and passion toward achieving it. You owe it to yourself to be clear that you ensure you stay fired up to accomplish such. However, if it is from someone and you take it and adopt it, personalise the responsibility to see to it that you achieve it. It is now yours and not their goal somewhere.

4. Set goals that motivate you There should be value in achieving your goal. If the outcome means something to you then you will put in all the work.

5. Visualise what you want There is something that you want, visualising it allows it to be clear to you, and this will make it easier for you to focus on it and to make it a reality.

6. Make your goals positive Gain something rather than losing the opposite. Gain energy, vitality or health. Stop saying to lose weight. Gain rather than focus on losing. Aim to spend more time with the family not aiming to watch less tv.

7. Make sure goals do not conflict Working overtime to buy new car and spending more time at home to bond and enjoy life with family. Prioritise and take the one with more meaning or urgency first. Take time -Think about it first.

8. Write it all down Do so to keep motivated, focused and on track. You can want to see them everyday if you do you will find it helpful to see them everyday. This is better done where you have written down.

9. Identify your purpose Knowing why you want to achieve a goal is powerful!

10. Make sure your goals are attainable Don’t be too easy. – but ensure your goals are attainable. Be very realistic, and you yourself must believe that they are attainable. In other words let them be challenging and also achievable.

11. Have a deadline Your mindset is gonna switch into a different direction. Only if you have a deadline. For instance I want to fit into my favourite pair of jeans by end of the year, You want to buy a house by the time you’re 35, You want to buy a new car by end of winter or at December time. Specific target at a specific date and time.

12. Create an action plan You may not know all the necessary steps to accomplishing the goal but you write down the next steps to start. Your also need to write them down.

13. Stay focused It is when you focus on goals daily that then they become easier to reach. You can ensure you see them daily on a written page for if your mind notices there is a discrepancy between where you are now and where you want to be it will create pressure to change. If you lose focus for any reason you can always bring it back.

14. Difficulties are only challenges As you maintain an attitude of motivation, you face these problems that are simply challenges and win.

15. Accountability Ask someone for valuable feedback at critical junctures. Accountability gets you going more at times of complacency.

16. Review your goals daily To see the progress on each. This also helps to see if you’re over-compensating on another of your goal or goals which would be at expense of the other(s).

Taking on the process surely makes you a better person.
